Saturday marked an uncomfortable start to the summer, with dry weather conditions causing road construction to produce a significant amount of dust. Sunday was even more challenging, with heat indices soaring above 110 degrees. However, the rain that fell on Monday morning cleared the dust and provided a refreshing drink to everything. More midweek rain showers nourished my flower beds, giving them a much-needed soaking. The rest of the week brought continued rain, which effectively halted road work for the week. Fortunately, the entire construction site drains exceptionally well. This week has witnessed the most rainy days in a week since March, with four days of rainfall. At the bird feeder, local native birds diligently search for their next meals. Sparrows dominate the bird population, followed by cardinals, brown-headed cowbirds, doves, blue jays, wrens, chickadees, titmice, and an occasional blackbird.
