Once again this week, useful rainfall has avoided my yard and the landscape is showing the effects. Though the grass looks like it may be holding its own, close examination reveals the the more desirable centipede is being replaced by native weed grasses that are more dry tolerant. And the relentless scalding sun is burning holes in green leaves and causing some shrubs to drop foliage to prevent extreme moisture loss in the plant. All of this is not especially disturbing, I am just more acutely aware of what is going on when I need to file a Conditions Monitoring report.
