Notes: |
Thunderstorm that produced the hail began around 0707. A greenish-blue sky occurred before the storm in between 0650 and 0655. The sky thereafter was dark; unlike most times at such an hour in midsummer, artificial lighting was a requirement. Hail fell three minutes into the storm, at around 0710, and was mixed very sparsely with a moderate to heavy rainfall for a short duration of perhaps one minute. Hail was mainly white, and much of it seemed soft, like sleet, as such pieces melted nearly immediately on contact with hard, outdoor surfaces. At 0707, the temperature was 65, the relative humidity 77 percent, the dewpoint 58, and the winds SW at approximately 15 m.p.h. Additionally, winds gusted to approximately 60 m.p.h. at 0715, and heavy rain fell in sheets at 0717 for 3-4 minutes duration. Lightning was frequent, but not continuous in the early stages of the storm, and less frequent after 0725, until the thunderstorm ended at around 0740. |
