Notes: |
Hail started with few widely scattered both in space and size for a minute
or so and then the wind accelerated strongly bending trees in all directions with hail increasing in velocity and varying in sizes ranging from pea to ping pong balls. Dime and quarter size were more dominant. Looking out the back of the house the hail seemed to be coming down at an angle, of 60 or 70 degrees from the north or NW. Trees were being stripped of leaves and hail was accumulating on ground. As the hail gathered for 10o or 15 minutes the rain that was
falling lightly with the hail increased to downpour status and seemed to melt the hail quickly. We have not been able to determine any damage yet other than a lot of leaves under trees and shrubss and a quarter size holein the rain gauge funnel. Will check metal roof later. PS found egg size hail on deck among pile of other sizes. |
