Notes: |
Station TX-GP-14 appeared to experience the near-genesis of a thunderstorm that yielded moderate rainfall for approximately 15 minutes and pea-sized to grape-sized hail for approximately 5 minutes. The rain began falling at 17:35 hours (23:35 UTC) and the hail began falling at 17:40 hours (23:40 UTC). Hail accumulations were sparse, but evident and lasted approximately 30 to 40 minutes before melting. (This station had no hail pad.) This station appeared to be near the genesis of the thunderstorm that moved off to the northeast. A view of doppler radar that was broadcast by a San Antonio TV station approximately 20 minutes before the hail event did not indicate the presence of a thunderstorm over this station. Rainfall for the event totaled 0.23 inch. Rainfall since 0700 hours (0100 UTC) totals 0.46 inch, so far, for the current 24-hour period. After the storm, the sun broke through for the first time, all of the foggy day, producing a complete rainbow. |
